The cuff links story
The Cuff links are the special clasps, the decorative fasteners that are put in the holes of the cuffs used with the aim of fastening. Many cuff links are referred to the jewellery and these elements of the men's clothes are usually worn with the evening suit.
The first appearance of cuff links was noticed in Europe in the beginning of the 17th century however nobody can tell the exact date of the links birth. Results, the cuff links are about 400 years. First the sleeves of the shirts were fastened with the help of the strings, later with the laces that were usually decorated somehow. The decoration was the symbol of the owner's richness.
Later the little buttons were invented that were connected with the thin and beautiful chain. In the end of 19th century the English dandy loyal to the formal and strict style tried to show themselves with the help of cuff links. The cuff links production was the profitable business and their inventors impressed men with the new forms and decorations. The mechanisms of cuff links were also developed a lot. And these mechanisms are kept till nowadays.
The design of the cuff links of the 20th century was different. The material for cuff links making was the most extraordinary from the precious stones to the corals. In the 20th century the shirts with the cuff links were substituted by the shirts with the buttons. But the elegant style is made by the cuff links till nowadays.
